She knew this voice. She heard it before yelling, crying, whispering, laughing, begging… The shiny badges on his heart and the forage cap under his arm were the first things her eyes noticed ; and then, the whole uniform. Why, for God’s sake, was he dressed like that?
It has been 8 months since they saw each other for the last time. 8 months since the Fischer’s job. 8 months since that night in Los Angeles… “I’ve missed you.” he added.
She smiled softly and looked away, feeling his stare on the nape of her bare neck.
